PyCon Africa 2020 -- Day 3

PyCon Africa   On the 3 rd of August 2020, the PYCON AFRICA 2020 week kicked off, with great speakers from all over Africa and beyond. On the 6 th of August 2020, the third day commenced. The event was introduced by the convener, Marlene Mhangami. She introduced all the speakers, including the keynote speakers, panelists, session speakers. The schedule of events of the day was shared amongst all speakers and panelists. Tairu Oluwafemi and Flavio Clesio The first sessions started at 10AM WAT with topics – Building production worthy website with Django by Tairu Oluwafemi and Security in Machine Learning by Flavio Clesio. The speakers talked explicitly on the importance of building a production worthy websites while breaking down and demonstrating this using codebase in Python and also talked about security in Machine learning and the need for securing all Machine learning applications and how to keep them secured respectively. PyCon Africa 2020 -- Day 1

  PyCon Africa 2020 went virtual in August 2020!   Welcome Address Day One began with an enthusiastic welcome address and opening remark from our Chair, Marlene Mhangami. She highlighted during her opening remarks, the current situation the world is in during this Covid-19 pandemic and the changes that everyone is adjusting to. She also stated that PyCon Africa is the annual Pan-African gathering of the Python community on the continent of Africa. This is the 2 nd edition. Last year was the inaugural edition which was held in Accra, Ghana. People from over 26 different countries were present last year. It was well attended. She explained that this year the choice was made to host the conference online to ensure the safety of all of the attendees and the number of attendees this year has been doubled and that’s very exciting.  She spoke about Hopin, the platform for the conference which allows more interactive video sessions, networking, dynamic questions and answer sessions and others

Announcing PyCon Africa 2019

Welcome to the official blog of Pycon Africa, the largest pan-African gathering of the Python community. We are excited to announce that the first rendition of the conference is set for August 6 through 10, 2019. The event will include talks, workshops and collaboration between Pythonista’s from across the continent and around the world.   Venue For the inaugural gathering we have chosen Accra, Ghana as our launchpad. This beautiful city was home to last years Pycon Ghana and served to host hundreds of developers from across West Africa. The city is well known for its gorgeous coasts, delicious food and friendly residents. I experienced all of this first hand in 2018 and can say with confidence that I’m looking forward to returning again this year! The venue will be the University of Ghana , one of the oldest and largest universities in the country. It is easily reached from across the city and offers modern facilities in large-capacity halls.
